Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of school when her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. It was a struggle to survive at the time she landed her first part in the acting world in the film Rachel's Room's lead character. In 2002, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She played the lead protagonist for two seasons and also won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 and in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season, which aired from 2013 to the year 2014. She plays Faith who is both a star-gazer and the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She's a Gyllenhaal, the daughters of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), as well as younger in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens her career began as a small part-time actress for her father and appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her brother. She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise in both of her roles as the main character in Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). She received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. After a string of commercially successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a mother who is not married on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Following that she was able to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (12). She also played a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action-packed thriller released in 2013, a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014) and her role as the main character on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
